Author Topic: PSA: Conserve your Bricks  (Read 2272 times)

I debated whether or not I wanted to make this post since we seem to have gotten used to it happening, but I almost got banned from a server for suggesting this to the host.

Please pay attention to the number of bricks you place when you're building something. It doesn't take that long to do so, and it helps prevent lag on the server you're building on. Take a look at these screenshots:

This build uses up 131 bricks, not counting the "131 bricks" label on the roof. Now for comparison, here's the same build using more than just 1x1xZ bricks.

The second build only used 23 bricks, and it only took about 30 seconds longer to build than the first one.
That's all I really wanted to say. In short(er), please conserve bricks when building. It's worth the extra time it takes to do so.

Additional notes: I have nothing against detailed builds. That's fine as long as it looks nice and isn't overdone. I'm talking about builds that use multiple small bricks when you can easily use a single large brick in its place. I don't consider myself a good builder, but you can definitely do better than what's shown above.

We'll yeah, and the build looks better without the lines.

i think builds look better with more bricks.

i think builds look better with more bricks.
They do if it's detailed and not just a flat single color wall.

What i think bisjac is saying is that "spam" is good as long as it looks good.

It completely depends on the style and complexity of your build. I don't like to make simple houses, and I'll often use 2x1s to create a brick wall. There are other people who use fewer bricks with less detail and still create great looking structures.

I typically rebuild things multiple times to minimize brick count. This takes a lot of time though, because I will frequently have to remove structure and such, creating a need to add support bricks.

Now build the same thing with 1x1f bricks.

does anyone know of the game combines faces along with hiding them?

i'm pretty sure it doesn't combine faces

if it did, then we wouldn't be able to glow/undulo/whatever similarly-colored blocks, or even paint them differently at all

does anyone know of the game combines faces along with hiding them?
It doesn't, and it has to use texure extrusion for every side texture small than 1 TU in any direcion.

hey wait a second, arent you that guy who hacked yourself on to my full trust list cause i said roblox is a stuffty game for 4 year old friends, which is true it is
