One time in 8th grade I spread rumors that someone was gonna bomb the school before winter break. Eventually the principle called me in and asked me a few questions and then told my mom about the threats I had supposedly heard from others.

They all believed it and my mom let me stay home a few extra days before break

I really doubt it will make it national news. It was hopefully just a one person threat and it won't go farther

one time someone at my school said something about the dunblane school shooting and the school had to get an assembly because of the rumours

im betting about 90% of all "threats" that schools deal with are completely empty threats.

my school has had several bomb threats in the past and all of them actually turned out to be pranks
and most of the time, schools that actually do suffer mass-shootings and bomb explosions never had any prior warning of it. people who want to carry it out are 99% of the time smart enough not to tell anyone.

This happened in San Antonio last week(?). Some kid actually brought guns to school and was going to demand stuff overr the intercom later in the day. His parents found out their guns were missing and caught him at school before he could place his demands.
