AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHGGHH

forget NO

That's just an excuse for people to be fat.

Anyone who claims that obesity is a real disease shouldn't be allowed to breed until they get their facts straight.
OBESITY.
IS.
A.
DISEASE.

LOOK IT UP FOR forget SAKE. I REPEATED MYSELF 2 TIMES TRYING TO GET THIS ACROSS TO YOU GUYS:
Obesity is a disease. Disease does not mean contagious. Lung disease is a bloody disease and it is not contagious and usually does not happen because of a certain genetic trait.

You smoke stuff to get (usually) lung disease. You each too much and do not exersize to get obese.

ninja decoy has no eyebrows

Well, i do, but a mix of bad lighting and one of the negatives of having red hair. My eyebrows are blond and it sucks, so you can barely see them.

half the obese people are these kids that think they can eat whatever they want while they're in their teens, going out to fast food, drinking soda every day. then they stop growing and start gaining weight and before you know it, theyre fat because they have horrible eating habits

>drinking more than 1 serving of soda a day
>eating fast food on more than tri-daily basis
>eating and drinking disgusting portions
>not exercising to burn off excess calories
>not eating healthy foods or at least organic foods

"Our findings confirmed our suspicions. On the positive side, we found that the obesity-as-disease message increased body satisfaction among obese individuals, probably because it removed the shame of obesity as a moral failing." -CRYSTAL L. HOYT and JENI L. BURNETTE "Should Obesity Be a ‘Disease’?" (if you want to read the whole article here is the link: http://www.nytimes.com/2014/02/23/opinion/sunday/should-obesity-be-a-disease.html?_r=0)

NOW, to my opinion. I think calling it a disease is functionally inaccurate. If you are fat (not including genetic disease/disabilities) you should get exercise. Because you are responsible for your body, and it's your fault it has come to this state. Calling it a disease only takes responsibility away from the "patient". And making them feel like it's not their fault their body fell into disarray.

having a disease doesn't absolve patients of responsibility.  cancer patients physiologically have a disease.  people with the flu have a disease.  AIDS patients have a disease.  it's just a fundamental right for patients to choose to treat their diseases or not to, nobody can really force someone to undergo treatments for a disease.

watch that TLC show "My 600lb story" or whatever it's called.  plenty of the people on there go on about how they can't help it bla bla can't help this bla bla can't help that.  anti-victim blaming is a psychological defense for obesity patients as they cope with the reality that they really have a disease and their body is in critical danger as a functioning organism (there are countless issues for a human body that stem from obesity as you likely already know).  what's really another issue is that this psychological response always overshadows obesity patients who recognize the issue, face it head on, and go through the proper treatments/instructions to save their bodies and lose the excess weight.

I did not think about this situation in this light. I agree with what you say. Thank you.

“Recognizing obesity as a disease will help change the way the medical community tackles this complex issue that affects approximately one in three Americans,” Dr. Patrice Harris, a member of the association’s board, said in a statement. She suggested the new definition would help in the fight against Type 2 diabetes and heart disease, which are linked to obesity.

AMA says it is a disease.

It is a disease.

That's not saying it's a disease, it's saying that if it is classified as one it could "help treatment." In no way does she state it is currently defined as a disease.

Anyway, genetic obesity is a disease. Non-genetic obesity is as much a disease as shaving your hair is a disease.

Google it for forget's sake, do I have to do all of the research? AMA says it is a disease.

Obesity is a disease because it is a loving disease. It fits all of the bloody requirements to be called a disease because it IS ONE.

Smoking is to lung disease as is unhealthy-lifestyle is to obesity.

Catch my drift?

I'm sorry but if you're forcefully putting food into yourself and its making you fat its not a disease

Its just your body storing extra calories that you don't need.

That is no-

what.

That is called an eating disorder.

Smoking is to lung disease as is unhealthy-lifestyle is to obesity.
Your brown townogies are correct, but it doesn't show why obesity is a disease.

*sighs*

Do I have to Google the definition of disease and obesity to show you guys?
No, I do not.

No, I do not.
Please do. And be sure to tell us how it's correct.  Evidence is no good without argument.
