Author Topic: YOU MUST GET TO ALPHA CENTAURI - the journey is short but long  (Read 2520 times)

WHICH ONE IS IT BUDDY

We should investigate the big blue thing.

We should investigate the big blue thing.
Mission control is convinced that the big blue thing is Alpha Centauri. The spacecraft does escape velocities, gravity assists, and other stuff over a period of 23 days.
You are now heading for Alpha Centauri! Hopefully.

During the journey into interstellar space you play a game of Go Fish. with Kou Tori. You have a 7, 3, 9, 5, and 2. Which card will you ask for?

is it Alpha Centauri B or A or C
ask for 2

Your other crewmember is named Jebediah Kerman.

Yeah.

According to Civ. Rev. SCIENTIFIC SCIENCE, Alpha Centauri is the top-notch technology researchable.

Is this going to be 23 real-time days?
If so, that is awesome.

Your other crewmember is named Jebediah Kerman.

Yeah.
The spacecraft is now 23% likely to be in jeopardy!

ask for 2
"Go fish!"
You get another card with a 10 on it.

The heated battle continues on for 4 months, until we pass the god-forsaken dwarf planet Pluto. You unfortunately lost.

Jebediah Kerman realizes that we're in interstellar space, so they fire up the things that make you go really fast in an instant. You are now travelling at hundreds of AU's, and the fuel for those instant-boosters are depleted, so you discard them.
Mission Control is skeptical that you're actually heading for Alpha Centauri. After turning on the really giant telescope, they find out that you're heading for a binary blue giant! Alpha Centauri was recently found out to be that giant yellow thing near the top. Your rockets cannot be activated to redirect your course, as you would run out of fuel and not even change your path by an instant! Should you try to redirect your path, or try to get to Beta Centauri?

MUDKIP DO SOMETHING

You are now travelling at hundreds of AU's, ...

HUUUUUUGHHH

I can accept that this adventure has faster-than-light travel technology, but what you just said is equivalent to "You are now travelling at hundreds of miles!"

Not 'miles per hour' - just 'miles'.

god forbid a forum adventure have some scientific inaccuracy

>Beta Centauri

"Go fish!"
We're playing poker.

Anyways, Four of a kind!

Jebediah Kerman realizes that we're in interstellar space, so they fire up the things that make you go really fast in an instant.
10/10 high quality

Your rockets cannot be activated to redirect your course, as you would run out of fuel and not even change your path by an instant! Should you try to redirect your path, or try to get to Beta Centauri?

wow
such logic
much doge

QUICKLY! Redirect path to run out of fuel!
You did put that option on the poll for a reason, right? 0_o

The whole premise is really stupid - it takes much less to change course than it does to orbit the star instead of slingshotting past it.
