Hmm, nice, what brand do you recommend for a tight budget?
Lastnight my dad said there's a guy he works with who builds computers and if he sees him he can ask what he recommends. I'll let you guys know if my dad says anything

i would only use kingston/western digital/samsung

im waiting for a mobo that takes sata6.2 (i think it was)
that would read/write a ssd at 16gigs per second.

like ssds we already have are being held back by chipset technology.

im sure they are ok. but i dont trust em. they are kinda like logitech. the cheap version of everything if you have no choice.

ssd trivia:

an ssd will run faster if:

a) you have a bigger hd. the more gig-size they are the higher memory cas latency is done

b) running multiple ssd's in raid. kinda goes along with a. because bigger hd = faster ssd. but also the added effect of now reading data from dual sata cables.

c) do not fill an ssd past about 75% full. or they slow down. this is why its good to have saved media files and stuff on a secondary hdd inside the comp. only run programs and games from the c drive.

that kingston you found is not a 50 dollar ssd. its a 200 dollar one. you should take that deal while it lasts.

there are pci-e sas cards out there with like 8 sata ports on them. meant to plug into servers ans the like.
but if you used one on a home gaming desktop, you could put like 8x64gig ssd's on it. and be running stuff faster then anyone on earth XD

And there's a guy my dad works with who might be able to get me Windows 8.1 and a graphics card for free (I have no idea what kind but he builds gaming computers).

I could maybe possibly spend as little as $370 on all of this and be getting $600+ of computer parts. I would be so psyched

AMD is the budget king. The 4300 is decent for standard applications, but don't expect it to preform as well as a 8350 octo core. I wouldn't go with that because it has a single stick of RAM. Dual channel ram is better, as there is twice the communication between your CPU and RAM. You also said you had an old PSU, but the one that comes with that bundle would probably be better anyway. That's a decent mother board, has sata 6 for an SSD like you were talking about. That hard drive looks good, but personally i would go with a 64mb cache for better performance. Don't count on your dad's friend coming through with any kind of nice GPU, they're expensive and I can't imagine why they would be giving them out.

That's as close to $500 as I can get. With a low budget PC, you're going to take performance hits on your video more than anything, but I tried to spread it out across all the parts. If you wan't to include a monitor, keyboard and mouse, go with the build below. It's a lower power APU, but it can still handle Blockland and regular work.

You could cheap out on the monitor, keyboard and mouse, but you use those every single day, would you really be satisfied with sub par performance?

Remember, these lists's are just guidelines. In the end, you can add/remove whatever you want.

I have a moniter and I'm definetly not wasting that much money on a keyboard and mouse.
Since my hands are used to my laptop keyboard I'm probably getting a mini keyboard with flat keys for maybe $25. First I'll look in the MicroCenter store Georges recommended for a static wrist band, mouse, keyboard and maybe a new moniter if I find a good one
That AMD FX was in that combo deal, only I think it's a four core......and they aren't doing the combo anymore....
