Author Topic: Option to disable light rays when shadows are on? also some other stuff.  (Read 1279 times)

I can barely see light rays and they absolutely kill my fps there needs to be some way to disable them.

Also is there a way to make this thing right here larger along with appearing on the sides of the bricks instead of just the top.

I'm talking about this right here it looks perfect for wet environments personally here is an example:

One other thing when will the environment editor get an option for precipitation with options like direction, amount & speed for the precipitation? Along with being able to put grass on the ground (example: slate twilight) & have stuff like dust blowing around (exaple: slate wastelands).

Sorry if the images are too big I forgot to resize them before uploading & I don't know how to resize them in the [img] tags.

1. "Light Rays" only happen if there is an emitter like fog or whatever. Yes it does hurt performance. I do agree that there should be some option to not let shadows hit emitters(?)

2. You seem to be using soft shaders. If your performance is being impacted I recommend going back to default shaders.

3. [ img width=500 ] image [ /img ]

Soft shaders haven't really been the hit of my peformance, whether I use soft shaders or not I get a big performance hit with light rays.

That light spot gets bigger the further away from the ground your are, but you can try raising the brightness of the Direct Light color in the advanced environment settings

Also, you can't make it affect the side of bricks because of how their texture's transparency is, everything within the borders of the brickSIDE texture is black (although it's 100% transparent), which Blockland sees as a dull surface and thus does not receive light like the transparent white parts of the brickSIDE texture does

Texture edits could work.

FYI, the bright spot is specularity.
