they're providing 15m more to bushfire prevention, more money to fight corruption, establishing a safe streets program, putting 18m over 3 years into school security programs, redirecting money from the department of foreign affairs and trade back to the australian federal police, and handing over government-run programs and services to local governments. what is wrong with you guys?

The Government will achieve savings of $42.5 million over four years from the remaining unspent funding for the measures Sworn Australian Federal Police officers — increase and Australian Federal Police — retention and recruitment programme announced in the 2008‑09 Budget.

The AFP received funding for these measures to operate for five years which has now ceased. The AFP will cease recruitment of additional sworn officers at the end of the 2013‑14 financial year.

The world isn't ending, by from my point-of-view, I'm now paying MUCH more as a uni-student, I won't be able to afford the surgery I need AND I can no long obtain any financial support to do anything I want to do, such as make games or movies professionally. In fact, people inside the IGDA right now are feeling mighty pissed that their tiny, precious fraction of Government funds GOT CUT TO MAKE MORE loving FIGHTER JETS.

Let's not forget that family benefits are being slashed.

The Federal Police DO NOT need that money. They can operate with what they already have. If you're telling me that it's better have policemen who do forget loads of nothing than to have a working Medicare system so people can actually afford to hospital and, you know, LIVE, then you are forgeted in the head.

The only people benefit from this is big business and people within the Government. It's loving disgusting.

I don't know who this Steemer is, but if seriously thinks the AFP is more important than Medicare, Student Bills, Family Benefits, Pension, Culture and everything else that's getting slashed, he can go ahead and explain that to the people who are in a significantly worse position than I am. By comparison I might come out of this okay, but I know people who are completely forgeted over by this.

@Kearn: If you are a 16yo from Florida, please stop making assumptions about how Australia works. If not, I fail to see how don't understand that people WILL be hurt by this. I wouldn't care any if the Government's proposed cuts weren't going to affect people I know who work loving hard to be able to live a "normal" life.
