You're right. As these companies are still rich, there are obviously many more people who love watching these movies, and don't get them from somewhere else.

Some people (read: not drooling mongloids) actually want to see a story be told instead of just "yAAY THE PICTURES". It's being done already with IDW's ongoing comic series, they actually got a writer who's committed to delivering both action and character development.
Character development.
You know, that thing that makes things characters. That thing that makes you want to see them succeed in their struggles. That thing that makes you root for them when the action finally starts. The lack of character in the Bayformers films is what makes the action so dull because in every single fight you know the Autobots are going to win simply because they are the paragons of truth justice and the american way oo-rah and all that jazz. There's no tension because the outcome is already determined, and no fancy special effects in the world can change the fact that poor characterization makes those HD special effect fight scenes look like actors going through the motions rather than a real tense struggle.

the sad thing about these transformers movies is that hardly anything has changed between the different movie storylines. the movie ends with them pretty much right back where they started. the plot brings about only temporary changes; with the only thing different at the end of the story being a city destroyed and thousands of people dead.

Nobody in this thread is doubting that it's going to make a bazillion dollars, that doesn't change that the movie is going to be terrible.

I'm going to see it, because I've followed the series most of my life, and I suppose also because of the action.

Does that mean I do not dislike character development? No. I appreciate it tons.

However, it doesn't mean that I dislike the mindless action. I'm not going to feel anything during the film, and if it's a waste of two hours, that sucks, but I still think that it will be at least mildly interesting.
