By avoiding transactions no one makes money. The inherent and inevitable turmoil caused by a currency switch would disrupt everything while prices change.
Do you realize Ohio could be fighting a two if not three front conflict? Strategically speaking, all of western Kentucky is pretty much forfeit, being flanked at all sides by fascist forces. Kentucky would likely reduce their lines and concentrate their forces writhin some predetermined radius from their capital.
If this where to happen, Germans, assuming they are collaborating with their fascist satellites, would likely swing up from the south, while Indiana's and Michigan's forces swing in from the west and north respectively.
Lest we forget Ohio's inherent lack of air power, and the technological superiority of the Germans in the south.
I'm pretty sure that Ohio is the lynchpin state of the Union's defense. If they pool all forces together, and from three fronts, break through Ohio, it will be damn near impossible to stop that kind of momentum.
EDIT: Hell, if they just did what I just layed out, and then ran some forces up through Virginia/Columbia, they'd have the Union fighting a two-front conflict. You realize this kind of power your are trying to put up against?
EDIT II: I'm trying to think of a way to keep them in check. I'm sure you'll love my suggestion.
