Author Topic: Pledge of Allegiance  (Read 1956 times)

Just wondering who in the U.S. has to say this. My high school has us say it every day, followed by a moment of silence. My little sister says her middle school doesn't do it everyday, but that's not what it was like when I was at her school just 4 or 5 years ago.

Discuss this stuff.

its all part of the new world order agenda, you are pledging to the devil

*puts tinfoil hat

In middle school we had to say it everyday but now we just say it every monday.

We say it at my school, I personally don't however. The other I highschool I went to doesn't, they did away with it completely

I feel like we used to say it but I honestly forget. I know we said it in middle school but I've been out of high school for 3 years now and I can't remember.

I've been homeschooled for the past 3 years so I have completely forgotten everything except for, "I pledge allegiance to the...".

I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AND TO THE REPUBLIC FOR WHICH IS STANDS, ONE NATION, UNDER GOD, INDIVISIBLE, WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL.

I haven't had to for a long time. I don't recall if I had to when I first moved here to California and was in 5th grade, and I am almost positive I didn't do so in 6th, but I do know when I lived in Virginia and my dad was in the Air Force that I most positively had to.

Who here actually does say it when others say it? As I stated before I don't but I still stand up, sometimes I'll grab the flap of my jacket to keep my hand up, if not that than I'm eating breakfast while standing.

Ok, just confirms my sudden surprise that the idea of not saying the pledge every day isn't blasphemous. I recently stopped getting up for it again after an incident in Junior year, and all of sudden some stuff heads in my class asked me why I wasn't getting up and if I was unpatriotic. Only 1 week left of school, but I wish I could do something about this.

Don't know why I care so much, like I said 1 week and I won't have to say it again.

Is this honestly an issue?

Like I said, it's just a bit troubling to me that for the entirety of my school career I thought it was common place for every student to say it every morning. Then I found out that it's becoming more lax throughout the nation and yet my school still struggles with the concept that you don't have to participate in it.

lol my stupid history teacher tried to get me in trouble for refusing to get up and say it but my principal just supported me.

I haven't said ot since elementary school, but then again I've gone to a weird private school ever since then
