????????
why are you telling him? chrono was the one who posted the thing about torque2D in the first place
Explain why they are in the topic then since you seem to want to defend them. The topic is about Torque3D being open source, then other forumers come in to tell everyone about Torque2D.

Then leave the topic, the topic is clearly for Torque3D.
I was just explaining to the guy above... I'm not the one who posted the torque 2D link

Or, we stop arguing about whether some guy posted about Torque 2D and just discuss them. The point was that it's open-source, and if Torque 2D is open-source too, I don't see the problem.

I don't see the problem.
The problem is that scriode was/is being an idiot.

While it was unnecessary to bring up Torque2d, the subject was already finished and there was no point in telling anyone to leave.

The reason I posted a link to such a thing was that someone was claiming that GG was dead, GG being the owners of T3D. I posted the most recent news post from their site just for the date.

Has anyone worked with T3D? Is it a decent engine? If so, does anyone know any other free alternatives? (Blender doesn't feel fleshed out enough, Polycode is cool but in early alpha, a couple other engines are free but under special conditions, etc.)

From the few 3d engines I've explored, whether it be taking a look at how many things they don't let you use or actually seeing the limitations of it, they've all been stuff.

T3D isn't one of the ones I've checked.

T3D was basically killed by unity, and unity is much better

Also, blender is a modeling program, not a game engine, what are you doing

If you are able to shell out $19 you should go for UE4

I opened up their demo and it seems just like TGE.

I'm looking at delta3d right now: http://delta3d.org/

Well, it's better than coding it yourself. :P

But Unity isn't open-source and obviously not free. Also, Blender does have a game engine built-in, but apparently it's not that great.

I'll check it out.

Also, apparently Source is free, but you must contact Valve for permission first.

That implys more than 1. I wasn't just talking about you. Anyways, it doesn't matter anymore. Anyways, yes T3D was blown out of the water by Unity. Unity has a free version, dishing out $1500 or $70/monthly for premium is a little on the high end though.

You never said open source, and unity has a free version.

UE4 is open source by the way.

blender has its own built in game engine

Blender isn't really a modelling program anymore, it's more like the swiss army knife of programs.

that's if you're making a full fledged game, I doubt that they would care if you released it as a free mod
