It doesn't actually work though. On top of being several times more expensive then normal roadway, it also is way more costly to maintain. Roads get dirty, solar panels don't like dirt. It would be a way better idea to focus on putting solar panels on tops of houses instead of making a road surface out of it.

I'm all for solar, just I mean we have so few houses with solar panels and that technology is already here and we know it works.

This is just me, but it doesn't look like the people who started this campaign are actual researchers or engineers who own a lab or have any of the resources to do this.  Not to mention that actually researching and developing the technology for this will cost in the hundreds of millions, not just millions, given current progress in photovoltaic cells.

Almost all the houses at the air force base in town have solar panels and a huge grid near by. I hear they actually feed power back into the grid, its pretty neat.

Well, actually, it's worse than that. The feminism thing delivered a product eventually, and oculus rift is going to be a major innovation that will revolutionize the internet, it's just gonna take like 15 years. This is not going to be a thing and I guarantee these people will blow the money on hookers and blow. It'll basically be just like the YogsCast's videogame kickstarter.
