Kalphiter's latest and stupidest rant

Badspot pretty much implied updates would come more often with the updater thing and then v21 as well, he said removing terrains was pretty much better for the game because it would allow things to get done faster, and terrains sucked apparently.

Well seeing as how things aren't even being updated anymore I feel like those updates were a failure. Most of the updates upcoming, he still could have done easily, even with terrains still being here. Even without the updater, probably.

blockland is an old ass game. a normal dev would have called it retired years ago.

Then he should've passed it on like notch did with minecraft. He'd still be making money, but it'd be in the hands of someone who actually wants to improve it, plus he wouldn't have to work at all!

you should be kissing badspot's ass he even does small fixes. much less gives us new content.

frankly we do kiss his ass by continuing to play his game even after all these years. keeping his forums and game alive for such a long time seems like the best ass-kissing a dev could wish for.
we live in a world where pretty much every single game has access to the internet. games aren't stuck at their release state anymore. with the blockland launcher, badspot should be able to quickly distribute patches (which was his whole reason for making it).

I wouldn't be expecting more development if he hadn't neutered the game by removing interiors and terrains. The game I paid for had maps. I was willing to accept that he remove them provided he did what he promised, and he failed to deliver.

i agree. i'm not happy with trading two big features for the ability to add more content if we never see said content

Can we just like, not feed these guys attention? The only reason they're doing it is because they're disgruntled and want their complaints to be heard. If you make more threads about them, you are literally giving them license to do this stuff more.

Everybody has their own point of view. Some people think Badspot should update more and some people honestly enjoy the game the way it is and say that he doesn't have to.

They just want to stuff on Badspot, I know that. It's pretty obvious.
It's just that most points he made are true. It has been a long time since an update. It doesn't mean Badspot is a bad person. (no pun intended) It just means he needs to step up his game. Especially since he has a community that is still into his game, even after all these years.

If I did not care about the game, do you think I would have spent 1.5 months coding a hosting service, then 2.5 months running it? Would I have made the ID mapping project and a server status image generator? Would I still be participating in this community? No.

Unlike some of the others, I genuinely participate in this game and do not take a dump on Badspot. I side with logic and legit points rather than flaming. That is why I do not post in /r/Blocklandishorrible.

The reason I agree fully with Kalphiter is because, like all of you, I am worried about the development of this game. Especially the hosting service part. Hosting services cannot service Steam users unless they use a virtual machine. I bet it would not take Badspot too much time to create a system for easy Steam authentication.
