What is World of Tanks?World of Tanks is a game created by
Wargaming.net to portray a WWII tank driving experience. Wargaming has also created two other games called World of Warplanes, and World of Warships. However, WoT is the oldest and most developed.
Nations and TiersThere are 7 different nations you can play tanks from: America, Britain, Germany, France, Russia (USSR), China, and Japan. You are not limited to one nation, but have access to all nations.
There are also 10 tiers tanks are divided into. Tier 1 tanks are the vehicles you start with, then you slowly work your way up to Tier 10.
Vehicle ClassificationTanks come in all shapes and sizes, so they are divided into specific classes. Here is a list of them and their different traits.
• Light TanksLight Tanks are fast and best at scouting the enemy. Use them to quickly advance to the front lines and spot enemy tanks. Beware, however, because these vehicles do not have very much armor or HP, so stay hidden or keep moving.
• Medium TanksMedium Tanks are almost like a hybrid between light and heavy tanks. They can hold the front lines, or if needed, scout the enemies. They are not as fast as light tanks or as strong as heavy tanks, but they are great for people who can think on their feet.
• Heavy TanksHeavy Tanks are made for holding the front lines or destroy rushing players, but are extremely slow and immobile. As a heavy tank, you are thought of as the backbone of the team. Use these beasts to carry your team, but be cautious, as you are very vulnerable to artillery.
• Tank DestroyersTank Destroyers are laid back vehicles, not excelling in the armor category. Usually they will have powerful guns mounted, which are great for sniping. In a tank destroyer, you are not expected to push the front lines. Find a bush or a secluded place on a hill and snipe from there.
• Self Propelled GunsSPGs, or commonly referred to as "arty" (short for artillery), are vehicles that can hit almost every spot on the map dealing massive amounts of damage. Careful, though, because if an enemy gets too close, there is almost nothing you can do to defend yourself. SPGs have long reload times, keeping their long-ranged terror from becoming overpowered.
