Word of an unusually bright shooting star has spread around the globe.

This image was photographed by a person at the shore of an Afkoshilan island, similar pictures have been taken by people living off the shore of south american Anglo-Stellastria and the south western shore of the North African Union. Nobody has an explanation for why it was so bright. It may have crashed somewhere in the atlantic ocean.

The hunt is on! Using sonar technology hundreds of ships scour the Atlantic, looking for at least a glimpse of this mysterious rock. One may have been spotted near Iceland.

a local fishing crew goes to explore the Atlantic on their own without any ties to the government.

One may have been spotted near Iceland.
that would be silly, as it was also spotted off the shore of south american Anglo-Stellastria and the south western shore of the North African Union. it could not be near iceland, as no reports from the stellastrian mainlands or canadian colony or EC have been reported. if you think you found one, you're probably wrong

It says "may".

Anyway, that crew's fault. They keep looking, this time between Africa and Stellastria.

that's a little vague. the ocean is big, there is a lot of ocean there.

also, wait a bit. your water ships do not have warp travel

was it a space station

No, but I have some down south already.

was it a space station
unknown

UPDATE: it's starting to emit radio waves, the signal just brings up random gibberish, does not sound like it's a language. at least not a known one.

the signal appears to be originating from some point in this red circle

The ships are instantly directed to the circle. Their plan? Cover every INCH of that water to find that thing.

South American ASA, go go go! Search for the obvious alien ship meteor that we care about for unknown reasons!

The radio signal has stopped, but it's very plausible it's still out there...

a stellarian ship has reported finding a strange round object floating in the water

a little bit later, the fishing crew and afkoshiland ship stumble their way to the scene

luigi gets the first chance, move in and investigate or just stay there

your ship(s) move in, it looks like a giant ball made out of steel. a hatch is visible.
