Yes I'm sure DeWalt would pass up licensing my revolutionary tool cleaning hardware patents because I acted in research. I don't know why, but those big corporations are so insistent on making sure their business choices are morally sound.

The only way this would come up is in a real thorough back ground check for a security clearance, and that isn't really an issue as long as you don't lie about it or try to hide it.

Other then that any employer is only going to know if they were watching you get your ass reamed out on film.

Actually I didn't really make up that part. I did create a prototype of something that removes all dab, resin and other gunk that gets on my tweezers and dental picks in about 4 seconds. It seems to have much wider applications and I'd very much like to patent it.
