It can be like Mario Galaxy's Star Ball. And the Player can have the walking Animation when walking to make it look like he's rolling the ball while being on top of it.

I was thinking more like Super Monkey Ball but the ball is opaque.

You really can't. If the vehicle turns, the camera is gonna turn. And movement will still be relative to the direction the ball is facing, not the camera.
