LOL DEAD BABIES

I feel uncomfortable even reading this.
i only feel comfortable while reading this

I fail to see the problem. The babies died and then they buried them. I don't get why people care about where the dead bodies are put, especially of something so worthless as a baby in an orphanage. Like nobody cared about it + it never did anything worthwhile.

The babies were abused and not treated properly. It is not normal at all for an orphanage to get 800 dead babies in under 35 years. It shows how awful the conditions were. Even if they were treated for properly, they deserve a burial. When I die I don't want to be dragged away and hidden in a septic tank.

Jesus christ, I didn't even think about how they actually died.

The nuns stabbed them to death with a rusty spoon

"Deserve a burial" Because I'm sure they cared. Also, when you are dead you won't care where you are buried. Also, can you please cite your source for dead baby statistics at orphanages in Ireland?

A proper burial is a person's way of saying "I am completely useless and pretty much nonexistant now, but I want to inconvenience everyone left alive and take up space please."

My dad said that back in the 40s this stuff was prolly common. He says that hes not that suprised. Especially from catholic

I doubt this the work of the catholic church. Most likely the orphanage was receiving too many kids and they couldn't afford to take care of those kids, they just killed them off to cut down on expenses. However, to put them in a septic tank full of sewage, that is one of the worst ways to die.

You'd think like maybe at least once in that whole time they'd think maybe they're doing something wrong?

mmmm nah.

They didn't kill them by throwing them into a septic tank, they buried them there.

how many dead babies does it take to fill an irish septic tank...

This is actually nowhere near as concerning as I thought it was going to be. In the 1920s through '60s, an underfunded orphanage operated that couldn't afford to treat illness among its orphans. When they died, they just threw them in a mass grave. It's not like they intentionally killed 'em, so who cares what happened to their bodies after that. It's not like they mutilated them.
