Shulk is really good. His smashes extend pretty far and deal a lot of damage.

I find that using Ness's customs (PK Fire Burst and PK Freeze) and boosting his attack stat makes a great alternative.

There was an interview with Sakurai somewhere how there were no plans for paid dlc or any DLC in the future in general.

This may be implying that you can only get Mewtwo through owning both versions.

I haven't been keeping track on the whole DLC thing, but I figured a lot of people were still assuming that you can buy him, but owning both versions unlocks him for free. Sakurai hasn't really mentioned to my knowledge that you will be able to unlock him outside of the promotion.
