Keys you never use?

Author Topic: Keys you never use?  (Read 6665 times)

What keys do you guys never or almost never use?

Personally I always use Shift, never use Caps Lock.

Pause break

Home

Insert

End

What the hell are these keys actually supposed to do?

F3
F6
hyphen/underscore
scroll lock
pause-break
FN

I also don't use my numpad because I don't have one lol

oh well i don't use the key that got perma'd on fo- oh

i don't use the ones tonkka said

none, i need all the keys i can get for games

though i guess the least used keys on my keyboard are the windows key and home/end

Pause break

Home

Insert

End

Home goes to the beginning of the line, end goes to the end, and insert toggles a mode where typing rewrites instead of moving text.

caps lock, insert, scroll lock, num lock, numpad, pageup/down, printscreen, pause break, menu key

Pause break

Home

Insert

End

Home and End are for when you're typing and you want to go to the beginning of a line or the end. Insert is a toggle between insert and overwrite text. No idea what pause/break does.

I never use the windows home button, Alt and Ctrl except for games, caps lock, scroll lock and numlock. Also I never use the numpad for some reason.

Upon clicking this topic I searched my keyboard for keys I never used.
Then I noticed a key that I've never noticed or used ever.
It's labeled "FN" and it's between the alt key and the right click key.
I have no idea what it does.

Function. It's used as a hotkey for other things.

See the little pictures on the F1-F12 keys? Hold FN and push some of the F keys and see what they do
There's also small text on other keys depending on your keyboard. Holding down FN and pushing those will do what the small text says

It allows you to use your function (f1, f2) keys differently. Sometimes they have a set use for the computer itself and if you hold fn you can use them that way. Like, for instance, turning wifi on or off, or changing the music track.

It's like the secondary key on calculators. Using it with certain buttons does certain shortcuts, look at the images on your keyboard.
