Author Topic: How is Blockland's Audio Supposed to Work?  (Read 3046 times)

Since Ive started playing Blockland Ive had a less than favorable "problem" with it's audio. I'm not sure if thats just how the audio is, but Ive heard from others that it doesn't operate the same way for them. I never thought to actually ask about it till now.

My issue is that sounds played close up to my players camera become unbearably loud and much too quiet as I go back. Almost as if the audio scales extremely with distance ranging from "My god, its clipping my speakers in half" to "I'm sorry, what was that?" Doing the /alarm emote in first person will make me jump a mile, even with my sound on minimum.

Is that supposed to happen? Is it some kind of awful feature? Does anyone else even have this problem? And, can it be fixed?
I want my audio to work..

On windows the same thing happened to me
however, using a mac, it actually sounded ok

there was a topic on this, i just can't seem to find it, i think one of the posts says its on how blockland or the engine or windows handles the audio file.

What audio drivers do you use?
Mine are Realtec and I never had a problem with them.

You should attempt to update your audio drivers from the vendor's website.

This has been an issue on the multiple computers that Ive owned over the years.
My audio drivers are also Realtec and should be up to date.

How do I figure out what my vendor is?

My drivers are up to date.
Stop being worthless.
One of tutorials that I googled for you should answer your question

Googling my problem is the first thing I do before I make a help topic.
All the tutorials get me to the same place. I've been round that block.
I'll look into it more when I get back home.

yeah i think its blockland because i get this

This is what confuses me, because the community is normally split on this...

Okay yeah, so I updated my audio drivers with the drivers that were updated about 10 days ago, and the problem persists.

I don't want to play with this broken ass audio...

I believe this is because a majority of Blockland's audio is mono, which means it only has one audio track and send it from a fixed point out and it fades until you can't hear it, the further you get away. There isn't a way to get around this, other than not playing Blockland with such loud volume controls.

other than not playing Blockland with such loud volume controls.

This is what I'm forced to do normally, but when I'm in first person trying to snipe somebody in a DM the firing noise is so loud I have to put the Master Volume down to .05 to hear it normally. At that point, I can;t hear anything but my gun.

This needs to be fixed somehow because it's awful annoying.
Also, it seems some players don't have this problem and I really want to know why.

Perhaps this will help
  • Click the speaker at the top of the speakers icon on your toolbar.
  • Go to the Enhancements tab
  • Enable Loudness Equalization (this makes it so that the computer edits the volume, making it louder when quiet sounds are playing, and quiet when really loud sounds are playing.
