Author Topic: PS4 or XBONE equivalent PC specs?  (Read 1758 times)

I don't understand why anybody buys Intel CPUs. The newest Intel CPU (6 cores, 3.6-4 GHz) costs more than the AMD FX-9590 (8 cores, 4.7-5 GHz). ???
But there's more factors then just clock speed and core count

If you don't your computer sounding like an F-18, go with AMD octo.
Right, because it's definitely the CPU that makes noise, not the coolor you choose...

My Intel chip is running at 5.2 and makes no sound or heat thx to proper cooling

There's a lot more to it than just GHz and core numbers, anyone who knows anything about CPUs knows that.

who cares, the PS4/XBOne aren't exactly amazing specs wise

just build a system off of a high-end i7, put in 8-16GB of RAM, and an Nvidia GTX-6x0 and you've got something far more powerful than any console

and seriously, AMD is very far down on my recommendation list, I repair computers out of my home and so far all of the CPU failures I've dealt with have been AMD (though they've also all been OC'd so take that with a grain of salt; you should really never be overclocking unless you are absolutely 110% sure what you are doing and even then it's dangerous)

Why do people even overclock still?

Even budget processors nowadays can multitask several heavy programs.

I have to keep mine OC'd by the tiniest bit so it keeps itself throttled. It only overclocks from 3.8 to 3.9ghz.

CPU intensive stuff like emulation or even just high end games like Planetside/Civilization.

So basically stuff I never had to overclock for.

i overclock just because it offends me that i could pay $500+ for a part that comes stock at like 50% the capable power locked up.
or hey... spend 50 bucks more for the superclocked or classified version to have it bumped up to 75% the potential out of the box.

or be a man and take and use what you rightfully own XD

Well yeah. But other people have reasons to overclock.
