When I was younger we had a bat problem in our chimney, and occasionally one or two would swoop out and start flying around our living room. My mom had killed like 5 of them with a broom by the time an exterminator had come out. It was then that he informed us there was a ~$300 fine for killing bats since they were considered endangered.

However he agreed there wasn't a way we could've removed them unharmed (I think there's even an exception for a case like this) and just fixed up our chimney and did nothing about it.

There are conservation groups you can contact who can help and try to relocate the bats, but sometimes the bats just don't want to move, so you can't force them.

Ultimately you have to put up with it or move away. The law is on the side of the bats.
You could kill them or forcibly remove them, but you'd be facing fines and other punishments if caught.
