Games like Captain Forever?

I'm looking for a game like Captain Forever (get a ship! blow up enemy ship! collect their parts to expand your ship!) that has a bit more variety/parts, and is free (20 dollars for Captain Successor is... a bit much).

So far, I've found Void Hunters, but it won't really work (java doesn't like it) and I've heard it's not all that good.

Void Hunters is actually kinda fun. I made a rather ineffective but fun tug-ship.

It's horrendously large for tugging asteroids, though. I need to make a smaller - or at least, thinner - ship with the same thrust as this one.

control panel -> java -> security -> add an exception for that site
