Author Topic: Google's new attempt at stopping "loveism" activities. This time its code.  (Read 9378 times)

Oh yeah

lol "code a bracelet"

aka

"assemble a bracelet using a simple program that does not require any coding knowledege whatsoever"

I've addressed this.

could they at least not say DNA is in ice cream
there probably is some, but the DNA doesn't code for 'icecream'.

I think it is funny people complaining about cathedrals and ice cream not being made out of DNA. Tigers aren't made of DNA either.

i disagree and dont support any of this loveism stuff , with this whole get rid of loveism, it applies to entirely voiding the right to have the freedom of speech and say whatever you want in your opinion, it just forgetin breaks the right to have freedom of speech and opinions, because we as males wont have the right to talk about our opinions on women, but women can talk about us? talk about loveism, they're turning stuff around.

yeah

but come on

Women can code already. I mean, they use their DNA, I'd assume.

oh yeah
I dont quite understand
there are female coders
I still don't understand why this is like
a thing

Women have the same opportunities in life, the fact of the matter is that women dont generally find certain areas of work as appealing as men (this is what isn't taken into account when people say women earn less in the workplace)

Why does every feminist campaign center around butchering some hapless word at the alter of woman?  'Code' is not a marketing term that means whatever you want - it is a real word that has real meaning.  You are not 'coding' when you write your name on a bracelet.  You are not 'coding' when you use fruity loops.  Cathedrals and snowcones are not 'coded'.

I actually support the idea that everyone should learn how to program a computer - but you cannot accomplish this just by muddling the meaning of words until everything is programming.  They've got good examples in there - people who actually program things - they just need to remove the bs.

My biggest complaint here is that everyone in this thread is too busy trying to argue about whether this campaign is social-justice-warrior stuff rather than the fact that this campaign doesn't do anything to teach people how to program.

People need to pick their targets better.

But haven't you ever wanted to sow an ice cream cone out of DNA?

what pisses me off is like, there are programs at my school aimed at girls as well as guys to learn how to code, and they were making really cool stuff, and google decides to support something that looks like a dove commercial. i don't get it.

I think that instead of trying to build /interest/, these campaigns should just be targeted at teaching more people how to program actual programs instead of fake pseudo-code. I mean, this is essentially brown townogous to saying 'Hey, let's teach more women Calculus to close the gender gap in mathematics!' and then making a flash game where you color in integrals with your mouse pointer.

This is not made with code,
This is made with a direct electrical connection to the neon lights
There is no code involved
Shut the forget up google
Recover from your losses before you start something new
