Nations & Conquests
After his hiatus, the great and powerful Plethora said: "Let there be another Nation RP", and so Plethora formed Nations & Conquests from the bones and ashes of prior RPs such as Nations at War and Age of Chivalry.  And then Plethora remembered why he had previously vowed never again to do nation RPs and became frustrated.  And by this Plethora determined to abandon his creation to the direction of whomever once the RP year should become 2015.  So it is written, so let it be done.

Gameplay Parameters:
Rules:
1. This isn't the future, you're not gonna be zipping through space in your fancy shuttles.
2. You may not use real life political figures as your own, ex. Riddler, Stalin...
3. Don't start off with an obnoxiously large nation; leave room for new people.  No AC sized nations.
4. You cannot asspull help from aliens or anything like that.
5. Names such as "Supergunnation" or "Minecraftland" or names too derivative of a real nation's are unacceptable.
6. You are not allowed to powergame, godmod, &c.  I will flip a coin or something if there's excessive arguing over the validity of something.
7. You are not allowed to metagame, ex. Billy tells Sam about something Chris told to Billy about Jim, and then Sam uses that info against Jim.
8. This is a roleplay, you are encouraged to roleplay out your actions and to keep drama out of the thread, what I mean is don't get mad when someone ICly takes an action or says something you don't like and flip out in the thread.
9. We will vote on nukes in the year 1940.  If the're allowed at that point, nations in a position to research them can begin immediately and use them no earlier than 1945.
10. You are not invincible.  Include casualties in your battles.
11. If you leave the RP you cannot return to your nation if another one has acquired the land unless you have permission from that person.
12. You may control small portions of another person's population (eg. small rebel groups, not Arab Spring sized rebellions).
13. Most of you have probably seen Swat and I go at it.  Don't be like that.

Rights:
1. You are allowed to upgrade your technology so long as it isn't excessive.
2. You are allowed to begin wars over racial or religious reasons.
3. You can perform secret missions in attempts to sabotage or obtain information.
4. You can play.
5. You can attempt to attack/sabotage trade routes.
6. You're allowed to expand in land, but not excessively or in a short amount of time.
7. Grace Period and Stasis Condition rules as exist they did in NaW.

In Avalonia, the Generalissimo has convinced the King to institute a mandatory conscription of all men aged 20 to 25.  This is disagreeable to most of the people and violence erupts in the streets of St. Fyodor and elsewhere between the army and anti-draft mob.  The army has been, however, unable to prevent the mobs from running rampant, and in the melee the Royal Family of Avalonia has been killed and Avalonia's Generalissimo has stepped in as provisional leader of Avalonia.  Thusfar his only action has been to eliminate the draft and have the army regroup around St. Fyodor to round up and handle the dwindling mob violence.

Meanwhile, two Avalonian ironclads have been ordered to rendezvous with Avalonian troop carriers which were poised to invade some other islands and escort them back to Hispaniola to quell riots in an important port city.

Unrest in Avalonia peters out as the regrouped Avalonian army marches through the streets of St. Fyodor and elsewhere bringing order with them.  The death toll related to the riots has been estimated at under 1,000 with no more than 5,000 injured.  Collateral damage is moderate in St. Fyodor and higher in some other cities, but it is believed that reconstruction will not be excessively long.

Meanwhile, the question as to what form the government will now take, now that the royals are dead and all.  The Generalissimo is currently running the provisional government essentially as military dictator (though he's not flaunting power or anything) and the population is split on issues or governance, revolutionary fervor has taken hold of some who demand a republic, others wish to reestablish a monarchy, and the military is more or less in favor of a military dictatorship with a fair stripe of pro-republic feeling.

Y'know what.  I think Ima be Svernland again.

Edokko (term for people from Tokyo) begin to take advantages of the free market, opening up shops that help make boats and selling china. The shipbuilding industry skyrockets in the nation.

Tradition.

After a referendum in St. Fyodor and brief resistance by certain factions in the military Avalonia has become a republic with a constitution and everything.  The day become's Avalonia's first national holiday and is celebrated with fireworks and cannons.

Meanwhile, those portions of the military that attempted to establish a military dictatorship are condemned by the Generalissimo and are given menial positions or discharged.  Meanwhile the army undergoes some restructuring and sheds off some of its ad hoc qualities and is becoming more efficient, and the navy commissions the refurbishing of its rusting ironclads.

After a peaceful election, the Generalissimo is sworn in s leader of Avalonia, carried mainly by his moderate policy promises and the fervor and patriotism carried on from the quelling of the riots.  It is believed by many that he is likely to be supplanted as political parties and other candidates have time to build strength for the next election in 1880 (Avalonian term length is technically five years, but a special provision has been made for the Generalissimo o that elections can be held on years divisible by five).

The Avalonian military goes through some more refining and such to establish stricter obedience and greater efficiency.  Avalonia's first war games type exercise is held.
