Did the galactic war update fix this?

You're an idiot.

This game has no loving DRM at all.  You don't have to be online to play at all.
The Galactic War update is basically that Galactic Conquest mode from Star Wars Battlefront, but Planetary Annihilation.  Buy it, the game's really fun.

A friend gifted me it, but when I tried to engage a planet it said it couldn't connect to the server :c

Edit: Oh it's working now

Yes it does. it's always online

Best 16.99 I ever spent, well worth it.

i don't think you know what always online drm means

I already own this, but what are your guys' opinions on this vs supreme commander: forged alliance?

Wait, you can't play singleplayer without an internet connection? I guess I'm not buying it then.

Basically this is DRM free then. Just because you need an internet connection and an account to, you know, download it off the internet and stuff, doesn't mean it has DRM.

I got this back when it was 60 dollars for my birthday.
;-;

add me rogerdodgerbl (in game) if u don't have me on steam

tis pretty fun, there are things I hate like all the loving twitch spam on the front page that I have yet to figure out a way to minimize

and the menus are seem to not work right like 30% of the time

But its a promising early access game with some pretty rad features and a unique sense of unit progression. It's a diamond in quite a bit of rough right now, but I'd say its totally worth 17$
