Author Topic: how do I shave these wires  (Read 2449 times)

K, I need to shave these wires so I can solder them together. But they arent like normal wires. They arent wrapped in rubber, but instead by a shiney metal or something. If I try to shave them with a scalpel or scissors I just end up cutting off the wire on the inside.

uh

wire cutters usually have a tool for splicing on them

if you're talking about removing the enamel coating then use sandpaper to sand it off.

it's much easier to melt it off with a lighter; sandpaper will weaken the strands and (probably) cause them to snap at the solder joints
