Publix-brand California Roll Plus

(basically looked like this)

It wasn't bad at all, though the fishy taste took some getting used to; it was imitation crab meat. I think the seaweed was the most difficult part of the dish to like.

Funny: my sister tried some, having never had sushi before, and she freaked out and threw up in the sink

but i'll say one thing though, it has a VERY fishy taste

/discuss sushi and other asian foods

sushi is good

also miso soup is the best thing ever

what's in miso soup? the only "asian" soup i've had before is Egg Drop Soup (i tried it because I heard Doctor Phlox mention it once on Star Trek Enterprise) and it was just too "eggy" for me after the first time I tried it.

california roll =/= sushi

you gotta get some REAL sushi

all in good time; the guy at the seafood station in publix warned me that it would be best for my stomach if i started with a mild sushi dish that had cooked meat

to be honest i am rather concerned about eating sushi with raw meat, mostly because of my fear of anisakis/general parasite risk. so i may just stick to eating california rolls and spicy rolls in the future, though i'll see about trying the raw stuff at least once.

BTW you can all thank Comr4de for this thread. He is the one who introduced me to Space Battleship Yamato 2199 which in turn made me interested in Anime which in turn lead to me being interested in Japanese culture which lead to me wanting to try Sushi and then becoming a weaboo

p sure sushi wasn't eaten out of enjoyment, it was eaten as something to do with humbleness and a spartan lifestyle and zen buddhism in japan or something. simple, raw food.
