Author Topic: Youtube now supports 60 FPS videos  (Read 7572 times)

you can't?
oh
I thought op claimed the video he linked was 60fps

It's in 60fps because it's a video from EA or w/e's official channel so they got early access to the 60fps upload ability or some stuff like that.

lol

You do realize that action movies use 24 fps and they look forgetin' fine.

movies =/= games, shut the forget up

The video in OP looks the same in 30fps and 60fps. Yes, I used HD.
Get new eyes or a new monitor.

If you've ever watched TV with a stuffty projector that smoothens out the frames to give a "60" fps look, it's absolutely terrible, and makes the show almost look too real.
Uh, that's probably because you're not watching a movie in 60fps, you're watching what you described. I don't know what you're trying to communicate but it didn't work.

and go past the first 35 seconds because the first bit of the helicopter is still in 30fps

I don't know what you're trying to communicate but it didn't work.
Any non-interactive form of entertainment, such as TV or Movies, don't translate well with framerates above 30.

movies and games are not the same thing

movies are prerendered and everything is set up and is displayed exactly how the creators wanted you to see it

games are interactive and give the player the ability to control what's going on and are rendered live. having a lower framerate on a game means that control is less responsive and it 'feels' different to the player

According to what? Because I'm looking at 60fps static entertainment right now and it's grand.

but this isn't a game
it's a video

there's no responsiveness here (also, I can play a game on 24fps, but that's probably because I'm forced to with my computoaster), it looks the same

I just played the video through with 480p and then 720p and then back, they look exactly the same.

but not too much since hes recovering from a bad reaction to chemo

what the forget since  when did he have cancer

but this isn't a game
it's a video

IT'S A VIDEO OF A GAME DAMNIT

plus blinking effects look weird on 30fps when you capture a 60fps game

yeah with youtube the main issue is that some effects and stuff (especially flickering stuff) will be lost when the FPS is cut off from the source media to thirty

i don't think there's much 'feeling' about it, it's just nice to be able to retain the effects desired

60FPS looks a million times smoother and less blurry and i'm pretty sure everyone would enjoy having movies in 60FPS too rather than 24FPS.

did it not before??

i would hate to have to draw in 60 fps

And they look like soap operas at higher rates
