Author Topic: Youtube now supports 60 FPS videos  (Read 7699 times)

i would hate to have to draw in 60 fps
like 99.9999% of movies are not hand drawn frame-per-frame

like 99.9999% of movies are not hand drawn frame-per-frame

OK BUT LIKE

IT TAKES SO MUCH MORE SPACE WHEN I HAVE TO DRAW ON FIVES INSTEAD OF ON TWOS
AND THERE'S NO EVEN DIVISION OF 5 FRAMES

AND THE FRAMERATE BEING HIGHER MAKES ME FEEL LIKE I HAVE TO DRAW MORE FRAMES (sob sob)

i dont really see a difference to be honest

there's no responsiveness here (also, I can play a game on 24fps, but that's probably because I'm forced to with my computoaster), it looks the same
Yeah, no.
I watched it with both the flash player and HTML5 player, and I can say that the HTML5 was definitely 60fps.

but this isn't a game
it's a video

I just played the video through with 480p and then 720p and then back, they look exactly the same.

you're either blind, using the flash player, or something is seriously wrong with your computer

How do you not use the flash player? It's not on the settings page and not in that YouTube test tube thing or whatever. Last I checked, I'm using HTML5.

EDIT: YouTube is using HTML5.

http://www.youtube.com/html5
It says it's using it when possible. Which means 30fps and 60fps actually do look the same :P

EDIT: http://30vs60.com/ shows a side-by-side comparison. They look exactly the same.

Seriously stop. You have no idea what you're talking about.

Seriously stop. You have no idea what you're talking about.
I know what I'm talking about
maybe my eyes have a low fps or something because seriously they look identical

I mean 60fps is ever-so-slightly smoother but not enough to be worth slowing down playback for

I know what I'm talking about No you don't
maybe my eyes have a low fps or something because seriously they look identical Impossible

I mean 60fps is ever-so-slightly smoother but not enough to be worth slowing down playback for You can achieve 60 fps on PC quite easily really, unless your computer is stuff

1. Um, that site is specifically designed to show the difference. FPS stands for frames per second, which is how many pictures are shown in one second. Movies show 24fps, standard video shows 30fps. The higher the fps, the smoother the video tends to look. Showing pictures quickly gives the illusion of motion. I know what I'm talking about.
2. I see something differently than you? I have a differing opinion? Impossible!
3. My computer is, in fact, stuff.

3. My computer is, in fact, stuff.

Then it's no wonder you can't see the difference...?

I tried the other site on the 30vs60 site (which was 30vs60fps), and I couldn't go above 35 fps when I tried the 60 fps test.

uh

framerate is one of those things that is most definitely not opinion based

not even remotely
