"Impressive. Sounds like you're more fit to be a sniper than an airman."

You're more likely to get tortured as a sniper, you know.

"I was actually slated to join the Army as a sniper but my uncle stepped in and got me a, uh, significantly less risky combat role in the form of a pilot. That was some incredible shooting by the way. Those five-seven rounds, can they pierce Zent heavy body armor, or is just a peashooter against them like all other pistol cartridges?"

Obrad wakes up and rubs his eyes, washing up and putting on clothes. He walks out to the cafe and buys a coffee.

"They aren't called 'Tsuyoi Shougeki' for nothing. High-velocity rounds compared to a standard pistol round, they're still gonna require some precise shooting to actually get through though. Even if there isn't entry it's still going to leave its mark."

One of the technicians gives me the thumbs up to fire up the engines. I start up the rest of the systems on the Hornet and they whir up, quickly starting up. The technicians run a few tests on the engines while I sit in the roosterpit with the canopy closed. I shut the engines down again after they complete the tests, everything seems to be good and I should be able to depart within the hour.

Ding.

I'm actually having kind of a hard time keeping up with the RP between real life and there being five new pages to read every hour.
You didn't really miss anything.

Simon inserts the rifle and the two empty mags back into the dispenser.
"You probably know more about what's happening more than I do, since you're a, uh, captain. What I'm trying to ask is how is the war going? The television says the war is going great for us, but, uh, prior experiences have changed my views on the subject..."

I suit up and walk up to my Hornet with my flight bag, hopping in the roosterpit as the plane is being refueled and re-armed. I close down the canopy and do a few pre-flight checks.

Homura walks over to the console and taps a few buttons, cutting off the intercom. "It's not going great."
She leans on the console. "This morning I received word that three full Kintharian fighter wings were sent to intercept a single Huitz wing. All but two of them were killed or shot down. They were panicked, young, inexperienced. Three loving fighter wings and all of them were lost. The very fact that the two of them even made it back is a sign that whoever was in combat with them wanted them alive so they could spread the word. Lower morale."
The Captain sighs. "And it looks like it worked. Not that morale wasn't low enough anyways. This war's been going for far too long. I'm not even sure it's a winnable fight any more." She straightens up, brushing her hair out of her face. "They simply have the advantage in almost every way. It's an uphill climb up Mount Tyran and I think we're all tired of it." She lets out another quiet sigh. "I just hope by the time the war resolves, any of us have a house to come home to."

"Three fighter wings? What the forget could take down three fighter wings?"

I taxi out onto the runway, giving a thumbs up to the technicians as the plane leaves the hangar.

"Mjolnir 1-2 requesting permission to take off."
"You have it."

I push the throttle and the Hornet accelerates along the runway until I tug on the stick and lift off the ground, retracting the gear as the Hornet soars through the sky and I gain altitude. I set course for Valhalla airbase on the navigation computer.

hope I don't get ambushed or anything

"Three fighter wings? What the forget could take down three fighter wings?"

"Pod-tech, Augum-tech, advanced fighters, ace pilots, combination of all of the above."

Blue eyes and his trusty sidekick, Steele.
More like Steele and his trusty sidekick, Blue Eyes. No offense but A) Steele is a higher rank and B) Steele was your captain when you were in NAUC.
