What kind of laptop are you looking for? Powerhouse or something light and sleek, possibly with a touchscreen?

13-inch MacBook Air

Do you know what kind it was?

I'm not getting a mac, not a big fan of their OS. It's just personal preference.

I would go with an ASUS tbh.

if you want a laptop good for life stuff but also wouldl ike to use it somewhat for games, get a macbook

I'd really enjoy having some specifics, the one Glass linked, the Lenovo Y510p looks really amazing but unfortunately it's out of stock in Canada and I can't use the warranty if I buy it from the US. If you can find something similar to that but in a Canadian online shop that would be really cool.

why would you get a macbook for games over a windows laptop lol? makes no sense, games is one of the reasons NOT to buy a macbook

especially if you also consider that you can get far superior hardware in a windows laptop than a macbook for the same price

and that far less games are supported

Pretty much the title here. I got $1000 for my graduation gift to spend on a laptop for myself and I have no idea what I should get.
Stay away from Lenovo, Apple (duh), Toshiba, and probably Gateway, I've had problems with all of these brands

I'd say go to XoticPC and build something off a mid to high-end MSi system

Do you have a copy of windows?

Any specific reasons for this?
My $800 Lenovo is worse than my $400 Gateway ever was, in pretty much every way

and that $800 figure is actually incorrect because I bought it at a discount, the MSRP was more like $1k

Lenovo WAS just as good as IBM for a short time but now they're just another stuffty consumer brand

I'm using a Pavilion Sleekbook 15 I believe and it's pretty nice.

Good size and affordable (about $300).

Would probably work well for a college lifestyle.
