Someone should make one which acts like the hang glider item, except the player is in the standing position and it has no forwardthrust, no lift, no horizontalsurfaceforce, and a lot of drag and verticalsurfaceforce (I may be getting the surface forces mixed up).
for bonus points, dismount and tumble the player on fast impact
that way, it's an item which places the player in a vehicle. more flexible (tilt and roll to glide and try to land somewhere specific), no messing with datablocks.
