Why does the topic and the OP make an issue of it being worldwide surveillance?
Everyone already knew that. That was the entire controversy of the NSA whistle blowing.
And this isn't even an issue if you're a normal person not using sites like Tor, and even less of an issue if you're not doing anything illegal.
Who gives a forget if they're recording what everyone does. They can easily gather that data on what everyone is doing by machine.
But they'd need an impossible amount of workforce to work through all that data to find any of your innocent, but 'personal' details, and then decide for whatever reason to use it against you.
They're only going to look at and use the data of people they have reasonable suspicion about, who are the people who are criminals and are dangerous, who are attracting suspicion. If you are an innocent and law-abiding person then you are safe.
Because the NSA isn't going to spend the crazy time and money to look at and use all your petty information. They have better things to do.
