I just really like how Unity works compared to most other DE's, and Ubuntu is the only system that it really seems to work properly on.

it's designed for ubuntu lol

i'll guess it's probably beyond broken right now in Arch due to the GTK 3.20 update

Are you sure? If not that, my best guess is that it's just the Gnome 3 DE with the Plank dock and an elementary-looking theme.
