What's wrong with proprietary closed-source software?
Do you like to edit your source code or something?

The problem is it goes against what GNU/Linux is supposed to be: a free and open source operating system. If that proprietary program breaks, adds or removes features, you're at the mercy of the developers, especially if that proprietary program is a driver (nVidia drivers, Catalyst, etc). If a free/open program breaks or changes features, you can fix it or the community can. There's also other issues like privacy and such which I don't really care all that much about, but there are others that do care about privacy.

GAHNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOO

I feel like GNU/Linux is supposed to be whatever the user wants it to be. And I want it to be an operating system with huge software repositories with everything that you could ever need.

I think the official Arch repositories and the AUR have accomplished just that.

And there's nothing wrong with a free and open source operating system running some proprietary software.

And yes, Nal, I am aware that Linux is only the kernel. I (and most people) just call GNU/Linux "Linux" because it's shorter and easier than saying a full acronym followed by "Linux". And pronouncing it "ganoo linux" just sounds stupid.

I was responding to Miga's post. And you just posted an entire paragraph about it.

what? after that post you made about it, I don't think you can really say that

I would get rid of the recycle bin if i knew how
Right click on desktop  > View > Show Desktop Icons

It's a toggle, so just toggle it off, and boom, it's gone.

it was a joke

IT WAS A JOKE ARE YOU SERIOUS
THE PARAGRAPH IS A JOKE HOLY stuff

Desktop icons make the desktop seem cluttered to me. I would much rather just keep all of my most used icons in a dock and then have an applications menu for everything else.

Why is it that you specifically responded to me in caps.

And it didn't seem like a joke to me.

he probably feels like you should know more about it than me (and I think he's right, that you should know more about it than me)

or maybe I misunderstand what kind of joke it was and it was actually entirely correct but intended to be posted ironically?? idk

agreed. That's why my desktop looks like

No panels, no docks, no icons.

Looks amazing.

Georges is king of uncluttered.
