I know for a fact that Hodot has a pair of plastic cups with string between them, and he holds on to one cup, and the string travels out the window and down town to the local recording studio, where they record what he says from the second cup.
When he has guests on the podcast he has to really quickly move his cup from in front of his mouth to the speaker to catch what he says and what the guests say.
