Personally I would use this. use a lot of detail in this build, try to use wedges that are bigger than 1x1 to get the nice angle. I would also look to add more detail by the windows.

I don't know steampunk well enough to help you out directly on this one.
Try searching for an apocalyptic train station? it may give you ideas.

A 1920's Suburban house that is fairly large.

A 1950's tall ghetto city apartment.

A modern floating, mostly white, fairly large tennis court.

This is the more high end of houses, as its only a model you may want to extend the back. For this I would you a lot of detail. Remember to also add things to the side of the house which may break up the boxxy feel.
Don't use a 32x32 plate for this, build it in a zonebrick (mod terrain without properties) and start building each face to the size you think is right.

Have a look at office receptions to get an idea for the style.

A Germanic type medieval house. You know- the white ones with wood planks covering the walls?

EDIT: I'm considering an ancient beach kind of theme, so maybe ruins and uh.. well this is why I'm here. what would you find at an ancient beach? big stone heads?
