notice "germanic" and not "german," its origins go back to the germanic peoples and not the germans (who are themselves germanic people ofc)
Yeah, and it's a mass over-simplification to say that Modern English is entirely germanic.
Old English (Anglo-Saxon) was a very germanic language.
Modern English is a combination of Germanic Anglo-Saxon, Medieval Latin and Norman French, as well as small pieces of language being taken from lots of other countries/cultures.
