God created the universe in about 7 "periods" from what he told me.

Don't ask don't tell. If they ask you tell them, otherwise it's a need-to-know basis. It isn't critical that they know. It isn't critical that the world knows. Perhaps you and your significant other are really the only people who should probably talk that out, and even then, it's only to better understand.
Your parents know you for who you are, telling them you're a different religion won't make them think of you as any smarter or better off. If they're anything like my parents they will be shocked that you've turned away from the word of god (lol I was a pastafarian for a bit, that royally steamed my mom)

This sounds completely reasonable, and is one of the reasons why I don't trust the bible. If Christians can throw out a ton of stuff they don't like as "mistranslated" then who's to say that the stuff they do like and do follow isn't also mistranslated? Wouldn't an all-powerful, all-knowing, loving god see that want-to-be followers are having trouble understanding his message, and clarify it for them?

well ive actually never seen anyone call anypart of the bible mistranslated. Ive seen people say that this and that part of the bible "is vague" but never mistranslated
