Author Topic: Steam Support Sucks  (Read 1969 times)

This is my 10 day adventure with the world class steam support.http://puu.sh/a4Him/900062766e.txt

You kinda went a bit haywire.

Do you even know how many people use steam?

you could have at least been a little more professional about it

tons and tons and tons

If you get banned on steam for something you didn't do they won't bother to investigate the proof you provide.
But they also sometimes give refunds even though it's a thing they aren't entitled/don't like to do.

I just cant wait for this kind of message:
"Well, ace4045, looks like you are having fun, while playing %gamename% ON STEAM"
(no offense)
P.s.
Actually, some years ago (waaay before Steam Guard) i lost my account because i was stupid.
And steam support got my account back in like ~3-4 days.

I purchased Half-Life early in my Steam-account life, not knowing it was Windows only, and asked Steam Support if they could refund my purchase. I got my money back in 3-5 days!

Jesus christ you're loving impatient.

you had to wait and then went for the jugular.
i don't think this problem was on their end.
if you have a problem with waiting for support then hey welcome to life buddy

Gavin: Hi, my name is Gavin. How may I help you?
 2324336689: Hello, Gavin.
2324336689: My name is Alexander and I am encountering a small problem with 2 accounts I apparently have.
2324336689: You see, I used Steam to buy Battlefield: Bad Company 2, and I activated my game on a secondary account accidentally.
2324336689: Now I named my primary account invalid accidentally. It only has one game, SPORE, without any expansions.
 Gavin: Hello Alexander
2324336689: As I anyway not going to use the primary for any other purpose (or at least that's what I am planning) as I won't even use the e-mail anymore used to register it...
2324336689: I wanted to know, may my game "SPORE" be transfered to this account?
2324336689: If required I can supply anything required.
2324336689: Proff of ownership, receipt, anything needed.
Gavin: I am afraid but unfortunately the registration code can only be used to create one account. Since you have previously created an account using the Registration code, you cannot use it again to create a new account. Also, the account registered once cannot be unregistered. You will need to login to the game using the same account name and password with which you have registered the game.
2324336689: There is no way you can transfer a game from a account to another account?
2324336689: Even if you would most likely not even use the first account ever anymore for security purposes (I repeat I may not use the e-mail used to register anymore with it)
Gavin: Well, in this case I can do one thing to activate online access for Spore on your BF BC2 account too.
Gavin: Will it work for you?
2324336689: As long as I can use Spore on the secondary account and never use the primary account again, yes it would.
2324336689: Do I need to supply any information?
 Gavin: Okay
Gavin: May I know your email account and CD key for both your account?
2324336689: Let me look for the case, I'll be back in 30 seconds.
 Gavin: Okay
 2324336689: Aight found it.
2324336689: [CDKEY], this CD-Key is registered on [OLD YAHOO EMAIL], my primary account which I will not use anymore. I transfered to live (Hotmail) at ileetz@live.com as Yahoo!'s services are not useful for me in any manner anymore.
 2324336689: In simplicity words:
2324336689: The CD-key is registered on [OLD YAHOO EMAIL]
 2324336689: I need the game on ileetz@live.com
Gavin: Thank you for providing me the information. Please stay online while I look into your issue.
2324336689: Oh by the way, I am currently logged in ileetz@live.com in EA Download Manager on my local machine, shall I log out?
 Gavin: No
 Gavin: Thank you for waiting
Gavin: I have made some necessary changes to your account, Please login using your new EA account in your game and you should be able to use this feature in the game.
 2324336689: It's not a problem.
2324336689: Should I restart EA Download Manager?
 Gavin: Yes
 2324336689: Uhh.
2324336689: I do not have SPORE on my library on EA Download MAnager.
 2324336689:  http://gyazo.com/9c553da3101d6ed642a7949018f9f2d6.png
Gavin: Could you please refresh it again?
 2324336689: Aight'
2324336689: Alright, thank you a lot, the game is on my Library and I will go play it now for my time remaining on this computer (It's 22 minutes after midnight here). I am glad to see this kind of support at EA, glad I could make contact Live with someone.
Gavin: It was a pleasure assisting you, and I am glad the issue you were experiencing is resolved.
2324336689: I will make a post about this on my Blog, not really viewed but might give it's viewers a better feeling about EA. [I DONT HAVE A BLOG HUEHUEHUE]
Gavin: I'd also like to let you know that within 1-3 days you will be receiving a survey about this chat. It would be greatly appreciated if you could fill it out, send it back, and let EA know how I helped you out today.
2324336689: Thank you, mind if I save a copy of this chat for the survey and the Blog?
 2324336689: I will censor out the e-mails and CD-Key
 Gavin: Not at all
 Gavin: You may use this
Gavin: We are constantly striving to excel when it comes to our services. Thank you for helping us in our efforts.
2324336689: Thank you aswell, if there will be anyway to take contact with you again I'd try to.
2324336689: Have a nice day and thanks, yet again.
Gavin: Is there anything else I can help you with today?
 2324336689: Wait.
2324336689: Can you "Freeze" my primary account, [OLD YAHOO EMAIL]?
2324336689: It's not a requirement, but just saying, for security.
2324336689: I used the accoutn to play Battlefield Heroes on my friend's computer and I am afraid it might ov' been infected with malware (his computer).
2324336689: It didn't cause anything but not going to use it anymore anyway.
Gavin: You do not need to worry about that, it will affect you in any such way
 2324336689: Good to know.
Gavin: Thank you for your participation.  Have a wonderful day.
Steam Support does not even do this. They just like to forget their own faces. Steam Support is extremely bad for the most used program for games.

Meanwhile EA Support:
this is one example
i can vaguely remember a steam support thingymadoodle where supportman was a total coolbro
either way bottom line i'm not going to stop using steam because/if it has crap support and i won't stop hating ea because they have/might have good support
the day i install origin is the day they serve sno-cones in hell
but that's a different argument
i still say that op freaked out and went rabid over a wait that should have been expected

How to get technical support:
  • Be extremely descriptive
  • Be nice.
  • Understand that there are 75 million active users
