Also if you have a disability then doing anything is overcoming adversity.

my brother has mild OCD and severe tarrets. his birth was fine. actually he was early cos my mom did some meds thing that was supposed to make him come out sooner... ... actually she did that for me aswell... but not for my sister who is mentaly healthy.... ....
You don't have to come out with complications to acquire them. Its just something that can lead to it.

Theres a huge list of things that can cause them but aren't required to/aren't guaranteed to.

Also if you have a disability then doing anything is overcoming adversity.
This, especially if you go unmedicated and unhelped.

i tend to not use my ADHD as an excuse. although i guess if you have way more than mild ADHD then that would work

I don't blame my illness for my action. Not most of the time, mostly because its my fault for refusing any treatment.

woah, why the refusal?

Popping pills should be a last resort. It is important to try and manage problems in other ways.

have you heard what hes got? i dont like taking my meds. i would much rather deal with my own problems then let another person do it for me. but vance has got some pretty bad stuff.

They'll probably just try to put me in a hospital. Which I'm not gonna let happen.
I wouldn't doubt that people are already trying to drug the food I eat and the stuff I drink.

I only eat what I make and drink what I pour. If the food/drink isn't meant for everyone that I'm not going to trust it. I don't know what their hiding from me.

forget pills, I'm fine with how I am. Sorta. Not really.
But still, forget those medications.

I guarantee my disability is not an excuse, but I'm not say that because your calling me a liar, I'm saying this because of some you is calling us out on it.  Most of us feels comfortable to share the world or this website what our disabilities are.  This is a Mental Disability Megathread and since this is the place to mention your disabilities, I figure to share mine, that all : )

not really that much of a problem... yet. but sing it brother!

I pretty recently found out that I have autism, but I've known that I have anxiety issues for quite a while. I think I also had depression for a while, but that's not a self-diagnosis as a "I fit the symptoms pretty well, so maybe" sort of thing. And my mom thinks I have an eating disorder, but I don't think I do.

Not to mention you said your mom was a nurse, which helps, I guess.

Also, Momentum, would you mind adding psychotic illnesses to the poll? There is a wide array of them so I don't expect you to list them all.

Dealt with Schizophrenia since 4th grade.
Also some disassociation here and there but not clinically significant enough

My mom works at a hospital in Missouri and she knows these things as well, sorry if this sounds cruel, but he doesn't have autism.  Again, sorry in advance (hope we are cool)
