Pale skin and blonde hair is not attractive in my opinion.

You do realize that the majority of radical terrorists do these things because they believe that America is a Christian nation, right? There has always been a war between Christianity and Islam, going on for around 1,500 years.
Apparently I'm not one of them, I believe that a church-sanctioned state is a recipe for disaster, as once one religion gets involved, any religion will have its doors open to eventually take its place in one way or another. See for example the historical account of the "Holy Roman Empire" under Constantine and his descendants.
I agree that it is very hypocritical for Christians to oppose murder but not be willing to help those in need. True followers of Jesus Christ would be willing to help orphaned children, regardless of what country or ethnicity or language or culture they come from.
The phrase "forcing religion" is so misused and abused nowadays that it has become a slang term to describe any outward expression of religious belief. What many of the extremist groups in the middle east, like CIA and Hamas and the Taliban want, is for people to either convert to Islam or die. I'm sure if you have been watching the news you have seen how the radical Muslims in places like Palestine have been forcing many Christian families living in the region to flee from their homes, demanding that they either "Convert to Islam and pay the tax, or die". In other words, those groups actually are literally forcing their religion upon others. This differs significantly from western religious groups such as Jehovah's Witnesses and even many American Christians and American Muslims, who tell people about their religion, but are perfectly okay with them simply saying no.

America being a Christian country is not a belief, it's a fact. I'm Jewish and I know this, it doesn't take a genius to figure it out. It was founded on the basis of Christianity, and there isn't anything wrong with that.

Nobody likes very pale skin, but blondes are my preference.

True, it was founded on Christian beliefs, but the United States as we know it today is not a Christian nation. Atheistic political groups and recent presidents and supreme courts have tried very hard to undermine people's religious freedom as laid out in the Constitution.

Undermine the loving religious freedom? What the forget are you even saying??? Are you saying that by INCREASING religious freedom by increasing rights and freedoms for people of other religions, we're UNDERMINING YOUR religious freedom????

Oh boy, this thread

I am thinking that this thread went off on a tangent and is headed the wrong way. Why are people slamming religious groups right now?

Uh...there are public places such as schools where religion can't even be mentioned anymore. How is that increasing religious freedom?

Lol

Lol

Excellent point. Will take that into account.

That is decreasing religious freedom.

I'm talking about, and I thought Planr was talking about, laws that lowered religious discrimination etc by not allowing prayer in the class and such

There's a lot wrong with that both historically and ethically. First of all, America as a governmental agency is not Christian. The United States constitution says that you cannot make laws infringing on people's right to practice their own religion, but also that you cannot create laws supporting a specific religion. Because of this clause, it is legally impossible for the US to have an official religion.

Second of all, while it seems like a pretty harmless idea to decide an 'official religion' of the US, it contradicts one of the key tenets of what the United States government is supposed to stand for. The US government is supposed to be composed of the people, for the people, and when you create an official religion, the government serves a God with a moral agency instead of the general welfare of the people.

That is decreasing religious freedom.

I'm 99% sure that there are no laws banning children from praying in school. There are probably laws preventing public schools from making children pray, which is a very different thing. Knowing Planr's extensive history of pulling facts out of his ass, I don't think it requires any research on my behalf to confirm this as true.

>implying that socialist and other leftwing militia groups don't exist

As a centrist, I will tell that there are crazy people on both sides of the fence. We have evangelical crazies, neo-national socialists, socialists, eco terrorists, anarchists/sovereign citizens, etc. Police don't need tanks or gunships either. AR type rifles are fine, but anything above that is a little too much. Let the national guard handle that stuff.

You seem a lot more levelheaded than a lot of people on here. And I acknowledge that I've been a bit of a hypocrite, especially implying that all Evangelicals are like that, which I take back. But there are substantially more right wing militias than there are left in the United States.

Just because they think it's a war between Christianity and Islam does not mean there is one. The reasons for the US to be in the Middle East is to end terrorism and for oil. The former of which failed, and there is a lot more terrorism now than there used to be. Take Iraq, which we initially blamed for being responsible for 9/11. We went to Iraq, destroyed their government, killed thousands of innocents, and set up an unstable puppet government. George W. Bush told us that Al-Qaeda was in Iraq. Al Qaeda only appeared AFTER the US destroyed the Hussein regime. If the US hadn't gotten involved in Iraq, groups like CIA would be suppressed.

The Constitution does not specifically state that the US is a Christian nation.

Not everything a book says is fact.

Yeah, this is the new Left v. Right, Religion v. Atheism thread.

Not everything a book says is fact.

It's the Constitution though. The text upon which the US was founded upon.

Plant thinks these people hate America cause its christian? Are you stupid? There has never been a war between Christianity and Islam in recent times. Terrorism is the direct result of the wars that have plagued the countries that spawn jihadists. Its basically a "you killed my parents, I kill you" kind of thing. Muslims, Christians, and Jews have lived in peace for hundreds of years until very recently in a few select spots. I wonder why?
