This isn't really fair.  It seems like besides the fact that this is meta and the "snitching" wasn't made clear in-rp, in-rp, it is likely that there would 1) be a great deal of brainwashing made easy by the fact that they're fighting against a nation that just conquered their homeland.  In comparison, there were many organizations like this across the Roman Empire, though few actually targeted the Emperor.  2) Threats would be placed against them, probably using friends or family as leverage.  They would be taught to have one will and one will only.  That's how brainwashing works.
