As Avalonian ships sail farther West on trading voyages, the island about midway in the Southern part of the < becomes a waypoint for Avalonian vessels. As the island is largely uninhabited save for a small fishing village on the Eastern coast, Avalonian vessels have begun to set up a settlement in the bay of one of the island's two natural harbors (fishing village in other one). Soon thereafter, the Avalonian government sends vessels laden with stonecutters and masons to build some defenses and buildings, namely a small wall that runs around the town and into the harbor by about 50 feet, and some storehouses and houses. Avalonian nautical engineers steal some design aspects from the boats of the fishing village.
Avalonian traders begin to sell goods in the "Neutral Lands" between Espul and the fatherland. Emphasis is given to bringing in different varieties of food and animals and also bronze in exchange for various items which are also being traded at sea.
Avalonian soldiers continue to practice and arm and stuff. Encouragement from the Avalonian Council is given throughout Avalonia for every able bodied man to be able, at least, to ride a horse and wield a sword or bow. It's not an official mandate, but many throughout Avalonia begin to practice these things (Avalonia has more than double in horses than in able bodied men, so the first part's no huge deal). Larger Avalonian towns, and those by the frontier/border receive instruction to appoint a courier who will ride to Avalonia should the town come under attack.
