Author Topic: People rating roblox higher than blockland  (Read 3865 times)

Blockland is just so small and irrelevant that people come to conclusions from the two things they know about Blockland. They're not lying, they're just bullstuffting. See the difference?

like if your entire game is not any fun at all without heavily modding it then you have failed as a game designer

they dont have to worry about good game design though as long as the manchildren on youtube play it then it'll still get bought

I disagree. If you made a game and "kickstarted" the mod community with several mods exploring what can be done with your game, and gave it a solid core experience, and optionally an easy way to download and develop mods, then you could attract enough players to make the fun of the game always fresh through the modding.

yeah mod installing is pretty stupid

all i can really say about this is blockland is an ok game, i would say better than minecraft, but its not one of the best games ever, 10 tiers above the rest like you guys put it as.
and at least roblox and minecraft have an active development (that the community knows about at least)

There are an awful lot of criticisms in that topic regarding Blockland from players who obviously have never played Blockland, nor know the history or have ever experienced the community.

I don't really think you can say that Minecraft has a community, since the game and it's ownerbase is just so massive that you don't know anyone at all. There are too many people to actually form a community whereby you can judge everyone at once.
Not to mention the fact that much of the playerbase is split between various websites/media, such as the minecraft forums, reddit, youtube and more.
On top of that there's no system for a server-list or similar, so chances of you ever playing with a large proportion of the playerbase is tiny.

Roblox has a large community, but it's mostly concentrated within the game itself and the Roblox forums.
There are iffy things about their community, but it's understandable given the particularly young age of the majority of the community.

Blockland has a comparatively small community (although having several tens of thousands of players isn't bad at any rate), but it is entirely concentrated on these forums and within the game.
Having an open serverlist also means everyone can easily join a game with anyone else, so we can actually form a community.
The average age of Blockland Players (or at least when polled on these forums) is about 13-14 years old, with players on ages either side. Overall the community is more mature than the Roblox forums.

So, if anything, Blockland has a tighter knit maturer community, Roblox has a larger yet close community of younger players, and Minecraft has no established community, but rather pockets of communities who are often based around singular subjects, like famous players, servers, mods and gamemodes, rather than Minecraft as a whole.

by active development for roblox of course you mean adding more buggy hats and weapons and not bothering to fix up the game's countless security holes?

didnt say it was good development

There's always something like Forge, which has it's own installer. MC really should have a built-in API and easy-access file system though. You know your game that revolves around modding sucks ass when there absolutely has to be a mod to make it so it's possible to use more than one at a time.

i dunno what you guys are on installing stuff for blockland is really easy

We're talking about minecraft lol

but i feel like all the fun in minecraft relies entirely on mods like it feels like nothing more than a base for mods now
some servers are creative but they're mostly garbage "DONATE TO PLAY" servers

oh i thought you were using that quote on blockland

I think that's a fault more on your end than on Minecraft's end.
Fair enough that you don't find vanilla interesting enough for long enough, but myself and lots of other players have thoroughly enjoyed playing vanilla for hours on end.

Myself and my friends fairly regularly get in to playing a vanilla gamemode. And even if we get bored of just surviving, we come up with goals for us.
Which include things like building a village, or setting up seperate encampments and fighting or trading, or having a survival gamemode where we have 1 week to set up in a spot and then have to move on to a new place, or we've tried to build our own Villager villages, by healing zombie villagers. There's a lot to do in Vanilla if you use a bit of imagination.

Plus, there are adventure maps and things which can all be Vanilla. That's no different than someone on Blockland sharing a save.

Yeah just saying stuff for minecraft like forge modloader should just be default in the game.

also they should make it so if you join a modded server, its downlaods all of the mods the server has instead of going NOPE SORRY YOU ARENT ALLOWED HERE

Like theres so much they can improve upon instead of just adding more dumb useless stuff like horses and such

Well that's what minecraft lacks. An easy way to develop and install mods.

Not to mention with every update to the game you have to wait until the modders make an update to their mods.

the thing i find funny about minecraft is that starbound is an unfinished game in its beta and starbound has basically the same mod system and basically the same server system
