that's from 2014 and there's barely any evidence towards it not lowering the iq
even the study published is literally this:
Correlations between cannabis use and IQ change in the Dunedin cohort are consistent with confounding from socioeconomic status

Abstract

Does cannabis use have substantial and permanent effects on neuropsychological functioning? Renewed and intense attention to the issue has followed recent research on the Dunedin cohort, which found a positive association between, on the one hand, adolescent-onset cannabis use and dependence and, on the other hand, a decline in IQ from childhood to adulthood [Meier et al. (2012) Proc Natl Acad Sci USA 109(40):E2657–E2664]. The association is given a causal interpretation by the authors, but existing research suggests an alternative confounding model based on time-varying effects of socioeconomic status on IQ. A simulation of the confounding model reproduces the reported associations from the Dunedin cohort, suggesting that the causal effects estimated in Meier et al. are likely to be overestimates, and that the true effect could be zero. Further brown townyses of the Dunedin cohort are proposed to distinguish between the competing interpretations. Although it would be too strong to say that the results have been discredited, the methodology is flawed and the causal inference drawn from the results premature.

those numbers in the article seemed to come out of nowhere, as there was no source of their origin to be found
unless i horribly misread something, this entire thing is just ???

i'm trying to make this an actual discussion to find the answer if it truly does or does not lower your intellegence
feel free to send actual sources my way if you feel inclined to do so

Most IQ tests are a joke, I tend to ignore those types of things. Unless they have a special non-timed non-pressure test. Everytime I take one I get under pressure from the timer.

http://metro.co.uk/2016/01/12/cannabis-doesnt-lower-iq-or-school-grades-but-smoking-tobacco-does-5617875/ this article explains it pretty well. I'm assuming it's the same study but who loving cares if it isn't.
And btw why does something being from 2014 discredit its validity? I'd get it if the study was from 1936 but 2014 is a fairly recent time lmao

Are IQ and educational outcomes in teenagers related to their cannabis use? A prospective cohort study.

Abstract

There is much debate about the impact of adolescent cannabis use on intellectual and educational outcomes. We investigated associations between adolescent cannabis use and IQ and educational attainment in a sample of 2235 teenagers from the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children. By the age of 15, 24% reported having tried cannabis at least once. A series of nested linear regressions was employed, adjusted hierarchically by pre-exposure ability and potential confounds (e.g. cigarette and alcohol use, childhood mental-health symptoms and behavioural problems), to test the relationships between cumulative cannabis use and IQ at the age of 15 and educational performance at the age of 16. After full adjustment, those who had used cannabis ⩾50 times did not differ from never-users on either IQ or educational performance. Adjusting for group differences in cigarette smoking dramatically attenuated the associations between cannabis use and both outcomes, and further brown townyses demonstrated robust associations between cigarette use and educational outcomes, even with cannabis users excluded. These findings suggest that adolescent cannabis use is not associated with IQ or educational performance once adjustment is made for potential confounds, in particular adolescent cigarette use. Modest cannabis use in teenagers may have less cognitive impact than epidemiological surveys of older cohorts have previously suggested.
^this is an actual source, not a writers' piece, recieved from 2 clicks of the initial article
i honestly don't know what to say on this because this shows mixed views on how it actually affects the user and how much the user actually smoked
the >50 times users could've taken one puff each time or smoked a whole bowl

edit: forgot to answer this

it's just my opinion but it's been 2 years (comparatively) and better/updated information should've come out by then

Yeah what can I say, I'm a lazy bastard
Thanks for providing the source, it's an interesting read. I guess my whole view on it is based off of my own life. I'm a frequent cannabis smoker of about 2 1/2 years, and I don't have any grades below a 95. This isn't conclusive evidence, or anything remotely close to it, but from what I can tell my intelligence has not been lowered by my pot use. I scored 125 on my last IQ test, not bad for someone my age. Idk of course the guy who loves weed is going to tell you that weed is harmless so maybe I'm not the best source for information

How much weed do you have to smoke to lower your IQ?

How much weed do you have to smoke to lower your IQ?
about the same amount that you have apparently
but that's the thing
nobody really knows
there's been no studies done on the exact amount but there are numerous confirmations/deconfirmations out there
the world may never know

In which case that's none. I've been out for a week.
Guys, we must end this epidemic of being out! It's causing us to lose IQ points!

i'm 16 and i've been smoking since i was 15; no issues so far.

are you sure about that

Well don't jinx anything, you never know. Smoking of any kind is very bad for you, and I wouldn't doubt that you will run into some negative effects in the future (smokers cough, short breathing, etc). Quit while you can before you regret it and realize that you've taken years off of your life. Don't be foolish.

it's not like i blaze like everyday. i'll probably smoke once a month or once every two months. nothing in moderation is going to harm you.

i agree here!
