Author Topic: Is there a way to disable "You're now leaving steam page?"  (Read 4988 times)

Recently they've added yet another annoying feature (to join with 'big picture')
How do I disable this annoying page when people send me links on chat?
I've done a google search and couldn't find anything.

Tell me blockland forums, how do I get rid of this annoyance?

It's incredibly annoying for sure, combined with the fact that Steam on my browser is in Finnish with no way to change it back. Unfortunately, it helps to sort out phishing links like steam"corn"munity, so there's no way to disable it.

I had that problem before, but I did what tokthree did.

its stupid how it does it for EVERY SITE
it should just do it for link names that seem similar to "steamcommunity.com"

Closest you can get is get Greasemonkey/Violentmonkey or such add-ons/extensions for your browser that can use userscripts and then use a link parser.
I use Steam Linkfilter Redirector (/linkredirector/) and it works pretty fine. This is unfortunately the closest you can get, and obviously it will still be present in Steam browser and any other browser that will not have this installed.

Thank god for that existing.

It doesn't do it for every site.

It appears to let youtube through, so there are probably others whitelisted too. Doesn't change how annoying it is.

Is there a client whitelist that you can access?

I didn't even realize they added this until the other day, at first I thought my settings to not warn me about non-Steam links got reverted somehow but apparently it's a permanent feature now?

steamed corn mutiny

spooky

It's ridiculous that there isn't yet some sort of way to turn off these warning by accepting some sort of "Own Risk TOS".
Who the hell falls for StemCormatitala.ru anyway?

i've lost approximately $1500 to these phishing websites, pal (and it was SteemComnnunity.md, ok?) I think they should disable links in steam chat. Hell, I think they should disable online friend requests. Rather, you'd have to meet up irl with the person you want to friend and use firewire to send a "friend key" to the other person. Or maybe even better, they could make Steam only launch when you have your computer disconnected from any networks whatsoever. IMO users' security Annoying Oranges a few really minor features like online play & messaging.

Im going assume the rest was a joke, but regarding this, if you honestly lose money or anything on your account on steam, its your own loving fault. This goes for anyone.
If you fall for something so stupid, you really shouldn't be using steam.

Steam made it impossible to disable because some loving handicaps managed to actually get phished. It's the same reason they disabled /me. Super annoying how some idiots can ruin it for the rest of us.
