Source 2 will have a new in house physics engine called Rubikon. It's going to be better than Havok, and since it's in-house it will be cheaper too.

they were released pretty close and on the whole Half Life 2 was a lot more memorable for a lot of people
it also showcased all the stuff source could do (physics, vehicles, effects, facial expressions etc) where counter strike was just ragdolls and graphics
